Suburban Picnic project (2009)
perfromance, video, installation/projections

flierThe Infinity Lab's Suburban Picnic
video excerpt below >

The Suburban Picnic video began as a performative gesture conducted at The Infinity Lab as part of Suburban Eath Works Series.

The Projections were done in one of the many empty buildings in the neighborhood of San Diego known as Narth Park as part of the first ever North Park Nights art walk e.

Video narrative: The B.S. (Brain Specimen) arrived at The Infinity House. The members of The Infinity Lab were there, ready to collaborate on their latest project, a Suburban Earth Work or S.E.W.: A series of performance/installations conducted at The Infinity House. The doctors had been actively analyzing, researching, participating, and interacting with popular culture as they carried out numerous S.E.W. experiments. B.S. was donated to The Infinity Lab by the a local artist after it reached high levels of critical mass. This was brought on through intensive multi-tasking which included the viewing of tumultuous events in world news, reading about the investigation of brain testing on U.S. Soldiers, and experiencing a mental melt-through as a result of life in a conceptual art graduate program filled with academic drive-bys and undercurrents of celebrity expectations. Through this S.E.W., the doctors have decided to embody the cannibalistic impulses of the american collective brain to devour B.S.'s cloudy thinking and awaken it from a gilded dream.
